Novaclav is an antibiotic that belongs to the penicillin class of medications. It combats bacterial infections within the body. Novaclav is prescribed for a variety of bacterial infections, including sinusitis, pneumonia, ear infections, bronchitis, urinary tract infections, and skin infections. Additionally, it addresses a broad spectrum of conditions, from bronchitis to Lyme disease, and is one of the most frequently prescribed antibiotics for children, especially for ear infections.
Amoxicillin is an antibiotic that eliminates bacteria by targeting their cell wall. It specifically interferes with the synthesis of peptidoglycan, a substance crucial for the structural integrity of the bacterial cell wall, which is necessary for their survival within the human body. Clavulanic acid inhibits the enzymes produced by bacteria that would otherwise deactivate the antibiotics.
Novaclav may lead to side effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, cholestatic jaundice, anemia, and agitation.
